Certified Arborist
The Johnson City Power Board (JCPB) proudly has a Certified Arborist among our ranks. Upon completing a preparatory course, Bill Hunt, JCPB Tree Trimming Supervisor, took and passed an exam administered by the International Society of Aboriculture (ISA) thereby confirming his status as a Certified Arborist. Mr. Hunt’s achievement marks the completion of the ISA’s only prerequisite for attaining designation as a Utility Specialist, which he plans to pursue this coming spring. When asked what this certification will accomplish to serve our company and community, Mr. Hunt replied, “This makes me a better resource to our customers, especially to our local builders and landscape architects.” He also cited increased ease in communicating with other Certified Arborists within the City of Johnson City and Town of Jonesborough and a greater depth of knowledge surround tree trimming and planting protocols as added benefits. In addition, Mr. Hunt is certified in these areas: Utility Specialist Designation, Category 6 – Herbicide Applicator License, and Tree Growth Navigator Applicator.
JCPB Tree Partner
JCPB is very active in the community. In partnership with the Master Gardener’s Association and the Appalachian Fairgrounds, JCPB worked to provide trees for the beautification of the Fairgrounds. The other objectives of this “tree partnership” were to provide shade for those attending various events at the Fairgrounds in Gray, as well as educate individuals as to what’s recommended for planting underneath power lines.
