Acquiring Electric Service for New Construction
Johnson City Power Board is committed to providing safe, reliable electric service at a reasonable cost. We also understand that meeting your construction needs and scheduling is important. In order to make the process of obtaining service to new construction as trouble free as possible we would like to provide the following 5 steps to guide you through the process of obtaining service for new construction.
- Obtain a 911 Address.
You must provide the JCPB Field Engineer with your correct 911 address before applying for electrical service.

Obtain electrical inspection permit.
(If an electrician is doing the work, his state registration number is required to purchase the permit.)

Schedule electrical inspection.

NOTE: If a customer installs underground permanent service, JCPB policy requires an underground temporary service be used. If a customer installs an overhead temporary, which is inconsistent with JCPB's policy, there will be a $275.00 charge to convert the overhead temporary to underground permanent. This charge is in addition to the $600.00 pedestal fee required for underground permanent service.
